PRP TECHNIQUE

What is PRP Technique?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment is an exciting non-surgical treatment option for patients who want to promote hair growth and reverse hair loss. PRP treatment for hair loss is a three-stage medical treatment in which the patient's blood is drawn, processed and then injected into the scalp. If the hair roots are healthy, the growth of the hair is healthy as well. Hair follicles survive with the nutrition they receive from the blood. PRP consists of your own blood plasma, which is 3-5 times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. These concentrated platelets contain protein and growth factors that attract stem cells, help stimulate the growth of hair follicles, increase circulation to hair follicles, and reduce inflammation.

First, approximately 30cc of blood is drawn from your vein. It's very similar to having a routine blood test in your doctor's clinic. Blood is collected and placed in a special container. The container is then placed in a machine called a centrifuge where your blood is rotated for about 15 minutes.  When the centrifuge stops spinning, your blood components are separated. Concentrated platelets are separated from your normal whole blood. PRP containing abundant growth factor is then injected into the scalp where hair loss occurs. There is no strict restriction after treatment.

Growth factors

PRP therapy contains essential proteins that promote natural hair growth. PRP injections trigger and maintain natural hair growth by increasing blood flow to the hair follicle and increasing the thickness of the hair shaft. Additional treatment is recommended every 6-12 months to maintain results.
